Crop Retreat Projects

OK, so now it actually is Fall! And I have been so busy, I haven't posted in a while! But, I went to a crop retreat this weekend and here is what I accomplished!

The front of my Halloween step card using some really cute stamps that I have been waiting all year to use!

The inside of the card. Open it looked like columns and just begged for an image. I used this Anna Griffin skeleton stamp. The green is punched with the MS drippy goo.

A card for a friend who has recently retired.

A special card for a cousin who needs a little TLC. Her favorite color is purple and she loves bling. Hope she likes this.

I missed the June Sampler at Scrappn' Savvy, but got the kit and finally put it together this weekend...well, mostly. It still needs a few embellishments and the picture in the middle, but I am liking the way it turned out! It is a canvas stamped, embossed, and color washed. There are stacked chipboard pieces, stamped images colored with copic markers and even moss and twigs!

This is the cover of the book from the September Sampler at Scrappn' Savvy. We started the book at the class and had to finish on our own. The next several shots are of the inner pages. The ones on the right are those designed by the teachers. The ones on the left are the ones I created to finish the book. This is going to be a gift for someone, but I'm not saying who!

Where did Summer Go?

I've just realized how long it has been since my last post! What a wild ride. Just over a week after our return, I was on a plane for Seattle to help my best friend finish the pack up of her brother's house and then driving their van back to Texas. It was a hard driving trip, but we did manage to see some gorgeous and varied countryside along the way! The two highlights were Old Faithful in our day at Yellowstone and the Rocky Mountains in the National Park in CO. Our adventure was not being able to get the car out of gear upon leaving Yellowstone. We managed to "fix" it by using the tire gauge to poke down in the hole beside the shift handle each time we wanted to get out of park! Then when we got back to Texas, it started working again! Go figure!
I've done little of the scrapbooking I intended to finish this summer. But I do have some crop time planned. I've already attended some days of in-service and tomorrow is the official start of our school year. . . and so it begins!

I'm Home!

Just back from our wonderful trip to AZ for nephew's wedding! We are all so happy at the blending of these two families--they are terrific together! We went on the train! That is why my avatar is posed in front of one! It was a good trip despite the fact that my sister's bag went to San Francisco and she did not get it back until the day before we left AZ! I visited a scrapbook store in Mesa, of course, Mystic Paper--got in trouble! And Black Market Minerals--more trouble! But so glad to be back home!

Before I left Texas, I had spent a fabulous weekend at the Red Victorian in Galveston with the Cross Croppers and here are a few of the items I completed there!

This is one page of a tag book I am making for my "bro-in-law" for his birthday featuring pics of his sweetie.

Wedding card for the daughter of a dear friend who was tying the knot as this card was being made!

Wedding card for my nephew and his gorgeous and sweet new wife!

The 4 X 6 for my July Lickety Slip swap. I used my new EK punch and sewed bakers twine through the holes. Hope they like this one! The bunting forms a pocket.

These are a set of red, white and blue embellishments I made for the a swap yet to be announced on Tx Scrappin' Chicks. Got to do that today!

Graduation Cards

I made some graduation cards today and here is a sample. I modified a tutorial I found on You Tube and made these cute money/gift card cards--several cousins graduating this year!

...and inside

One of my cropping friends is moving to Florida. I will so miss her. I saw a card with this sentiment in Card Trends magazine and thought it would be the perfect use for my owl flourish Cuttlebug embossing folder. Copic markers provided the color, with a few stamping up markers (the yellow and the orange). I love how the ink flows out of Copic markers! I used Sizzix alphabets--Round-a-Bout and Girls are Weird for the sentiment. I hope she likes it!

Swaps Completed!

Here are pics of two swaps I just completed. The first is the Flower swap over http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifon Texas Scrappin' Chicks. We each had to make 12 flowers to send to our partner. I got to make flowers for Mandy. I hope she likes these!

This is the 4 X 6 card for our Lickety Slip class at Scrapp'n Savvy. We make five and get five back (not our own). This one has a pocket in which to insert one or more photos. The brown is Bazzill--mudpie, red is Bazzill--barkley; stripe is Fancy Pants--hot chocolate series; the gear-embossed paper is from DCWV Tattered Time matstack; I stamped the label with a CTMH "Annotations" stamp in brown ink then further embellished it with a crystal glaze pen. The two gears are cut with an Ellison die from the mudpie cardstock and brushed with crystal glaze (actually in orange but it doesn't show--I just wanted them to be "shiny"!). It is always such a surprise to see what wonderful work everyone has done!

School's out on June 3. But before then, I have to finish inventory and get the summer reading packets together!

May--busy, busy, busy!

I have been working later hours trying to read the shelves and get inventory going at the library. I am working on a flower swap due at the end of the month and have taken on the task of getting a mini scrapbook and a set of thank you notes ready for the LOY winner's basket--yikes! The luncheon is this Sat! I will post pics when I get it all done!

Whew! Long Time No Post!

It is the final day of Spring Break and I just realized that I haven't posted in nearly an entire month! O.K. so I have been totally remiss.
I spent yesterday with scrapping friends and actually got three double page layouts nearly completed, sans pics. I couldn't finish one other because I didn't have the stitching template and my sewing stuff with me. I also did not have the bling that one called for. I enjoyed gabbing and planning our next swaps.
Speaking of, here is a piEc of the border I did for our last TX Scrappin' Chicks border swap. I gave it to it's recipient yesterday and she loved it.

During the week, friend Mozelle took me to Dharma Cafe to hear her friend Bob play some cool Jazz! We had a good time. I had never seen a bass flute before! Bob is amazing--even when his pan flute broke during a piece, he kept right on going!

Two weeks ago, Mandy, Stena and I participated in the Scrapbook Round up sponsored by 5 scrapbooking stores in our area. It was a true adventure starting out from our "home" store Scrappn' Savvy after our Saturday morning Lickety Slip class, we hit two stores, did drive through, had a flat tire (thanks to my darling nephew for coming to help us out!) did two more stores and made it home around midnight! It was really fun and both Mandy and I won prizes! Here is a little peek at some of the purchases I made. I can't show it all to you because Stena took one of my bags home with her!

Crop Retreat and Valentine's

Had a wonderful time at the Cross Crop Retreat (after a rocky start--getting lost and the distressing news from one of the participants' family requiring her to rush home--things are better now.) There was lots of laughter, decent food and some fabulous scrapping going on!
I completed all 65 of my mini candy bar sliders!

They were a complete hit at school.

Here also is the waterfall card I made for our counselor the week before.

She loved it! Even the principal commented--"It's a fold-able!"
